- The current wolf population in Minnesota is estimated at 2,000.
- The most wolves Minnesota will be likely to sustain, according to DNR studies, is about 2,200.
- Minnesota wolves kill about 40,000 white-tailed deer per year (their main prey), compared to 80,000 taken by deer hunters in the wolf range.
- The Hill City, Minnesota pack, besides being partly responsible for the start-up of five neighboring packs, also sent dispersers in distances ranging from 28 to 135 miles.
